Our story started a long, long time ago....
Leon and Gideon met on court at the Kenridge Tennis Club many years ago and as fate would have it…they were paired up as doubles partners during the seasonal league matches. This lead to friendship and many conversations about their other businesses, interests and future plans.
At the end of 2017 they realised, by accident, that both of them were entertaining the thought of opening a butchery. Going on this adventure together just made sense as they could combine their strengths. Leons’ knowledge of the meat industry and Gideons’ client and marketing skills seemed like a match made in heaven.
What an exciting experience it has been since…from design to selecting an appropriate name.
They both love the Tyger Valley area and its surrounds as they have lived in the community for over 30 years. This region has some wonderful wine farms and seeing that wine and meat go hand-in-hand, as well as the fact that they would like to do meat and wine pairings, lead to the name De Wijnland Butchery.
